"Ladies and Gentlemen here they are, the country's top song record, the boys from the top music world...
Tito, Vic, & Joey!"
TOUGH HITS, BABY!!! We're in for some Departmentalized take on music!
Tough Hits record came out 4 years before I was born, I discovered their songs back in year 2000, and from then on they became part of our "inuman sessions." Well yeah its like going into a comedy bar for free, the only difference is in the punch line - the entire Tough Hits volumes are way better than all of today's comedians combined! Today, to be funny you have to make an ass out of your audiences, like Vice-Ganda-type-of-comedy which is totally rude - if it's Anne Curtis who's delivering the insulting jokes i'll take it but if it's like someone with a face you cannot stand, it's BS!
The album cover is so bad ass that you could definitely tell that these guys are up to no good. Front album cover gives you the face of TVJ back in the 70's (who would have guessed that Tito will end up as a Senator!) and back cover seems to have some skits of comedy too! And the Toyota SR there are in mint condition - kase brand new! My tough hit's copy is in VG++ condish. Thanks to Pareng Biboy!!
The sound quality is ok, nothing spectacular. There's some clicks and pops and I really like them because it adds characteristics to the listening experience and gives the nostalgia effect.
And yeah, the tracks came by Department!
Side A | Side B | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Overture | 1 | Chicks Department | |
2 | Rico J. Puno Department | 2 | Poetry Department | |
3 | Kajjo Department, Jukebox King interview | 3 | Manila Sound Department | |
4 | Pantalon Department | 4 | Children's Department | |
5 | B.B.B. Department | 5 | Family Planning Department | |
6 | Chos Department | 6 | Riot Department |
They attack all walks of life in the whole album, each did their own rendition of each department which makes the whole album more enjoyable especially for first time listeners since you wanted to know what's going to happen next.
The back cover deserves another round of close up images - check out how they do comedy back then!
I am only interested in buying foreign bands when I started collecting vinyls, but when I was able to get a few copies of our very own local bands/singers, it feels different and somehow it's connecting me to the roots of pinoy rock.
And of course check out the people who worked on Tough Hits.
Spread the love! - Vinyl Grimes
